Gordon Horseshoes
(No longer available through WD Horseshoe Company) Click Here to see our very similar shoe made here in the USA... Challenger This is one of the older pitching shoes on the market. Originally manufactured by the Queen City Forge in Cincinnati, OH, the company has now changed hands and to a Utah based firm. They cleverly call themselves the Omega Horseshoe Company... the name is unique because the Greek symbol for the letter Omega is a horseshoe shaped symbol and also, the first part of the word "Omega" matches up with their owner's family name "Ohms." Brilliant marketing, for sure... quite clever, don't you think? Their newest version of the Gordon Horseshoe is now made overseas in China and imported back into the US to Omega Horseshoes in Utah. It is now painted black instead of the familiar red and blue of the Queen City shoes and appears to be the exact shape of the last version of the Gordon by Queen City Forge... you can see it all for yourself at This shoe has gone through many evolutions over the years to get to its current shape and now its manufacturing geographical locale has done some evolving of its own going from the USA to China! In its hey day (back in the 1930's or so), it was thought to be innovative because it was a departure from the common rounded U-shape of most horseshoes of that era. It has a squared off toe end like today's Diamond Super Ringer and the American horseshoes. It has always been very popular as a flip shoe, but is quite suitable for any turn. |
