These horseshoes are designed to hold up for commercial and professional use.  We ship them daily to clubs and institutions as well as to individuals who all pitch them regularly for extended sessions, which often amount to hours upon hours of continuous daily use.  If being purchased for occasional use (a few times a summer in the backyard), they could easily last a lifetime!  Click here for more specifics on our quality...

We have always felt that for many pitching styles horseshoes are not wide enough across the blade of the shoe.  When you pitch, you are fighting gravity-- the shoe wants to flop downward as you loosen your grip to release it at the end of your swing.  We noticed a long time ago that if you take a shoe like the Ted Allen (very narrow blades) and swing it slowly-- As you begin to loosen your grip to release it, the weight of the shoe opposite where you grip will pull it downward against your swinging motion.  This causes the pitcher to have to snap his wrist upward to compensate.  If you compared the Allen to a shoe like the Deadeye Clydesdale (wider blades than the Allen), you'd find that less effort on the wrist is needed to send this shoe successfully on its way around the stake for a ringer.

This snapping of the wrist is what causes erratic pitches for many players.  Especially players with a very slow deliberate swing. The wrist muscles are typically weak, so it's hard to control this motion and repeat it consistently.

So, what we set out to do was to design a shoe that minimized or eliminated the wrist snap.  We deduced that more surface area across the blade of the shoe would help correct this problem.

Our first attempt at this was the Mustang.  When it came out, it had blades slightly wider than any other shoe available and was very successful.  Most people couldn't even tell you what it was that they liked about the shoe, but that "it just had a real nice feel to it".  We were happy with the Mustang, but  still felt that we could go wider in the blade and get even better results.

We couldn't change the Mustang itself because, in the meantime, sales of that shoe soared and we didn't want to do anything that might hinder that, besides, it's a great shoe as is!  Thus, we decided to develop a new shoe with even wider blades--   The Six Shooter.  This shoe (Hopefully it will live up to its name and score six points quite often!) has, basically, the widest possible blades.  If they were any wider, it would be uncomfortable to grip, which would probably defeat its purpose.

We redesigned these cleats utilizing the very successful rounded hooks and sharp points of the Mustang.  We then shaped the Six Shooter cleats to grab like a claw when they land which turned out to be a great advancement.  When this shoe lands on a pile of ringers, it really clings to the pile and stays on the stake.  For a higher percentage pitcher, this can make a big difference.  Often it can be the difference between winning and losing.

Even though this shoe is a bit on the heavy side, because of the wide blade, when you swing it, it almost feels like there is nothing in your hand compared to other shoes.  A lot of people pick it up, swing it back and forth and ask if it's a light weight shoe... but plop it on a scale and you'll see it's not!  Call us to see what's in stock for weights... usually this shoe has a good variety, so if you're looking for something specific, we can tell you if we have it or not.

It turns out that the shape of the wider blades also produced an unexpected benefit.   Because of the sharper angle of the inside edge of the blades, when the stake hits the inside edges of the shoe, it will deflect off these blades toward the hook instead of toward the open end, helping it to stay on.

The Six Shooter is a winner!  It's shape virtually eliminates the need to snap your wrist at the end of the pitch, allowing for a clean delivery and a much higher accuracy in repeating the motion.  The net result, in many cases, is significantly more ringers.  That's what we all want and that's what you can get pitching the Six Shooters. Give them a try!

Some of this might be a bit redundant, but it's all worth saying again...This shoe is always in stock, year round, and it is manufactured from the highest quality, most durable alloy on the market and carries our famous one-year no hassle factory warranty... If they break under warranty, like all the shoes we make, you'll have a new pair immediately... we take care of business.  Just ask anyone... we take care of all our customers, before and after the sale.
