Here's a blast from the past:
In the summer of 1967, Dan Kuchcinski (representing the Erie Horseshoe Club) won his first Men's World Title in Fargo, ND. Since then Dan has won a total of 3 World Championships including the 1969 title which was played in front of his hometown right here in Erie, PA. For years after, he toured the world professionally and during that time made four appearances on Johnny Carson's "Tonight Show" in both the New York City and at the Burbank, CA studios... For your enjoyment, here's a one minute video clip of highlights from "The Kid's" first appearance with Johnny in New York back in early 1968 shortly after winning his first world title at age 18... The New York studio had a ceiling height of under 9 feet, making Dan's shots extremely difficult... Even so, as rumored, he did make a ringer with Johnny's chin on the stake and here's the proof!

A huge thanks goes to Don Witt, EHC & WPHPA Historian, for providing much of the information used in the historical and statistical pages of this site. Also, thanks to Steve Morris, WPHPA Statistician, for use of all the PA stats and records that he keeps and hosts on his website and graciously allows us to link to from this site. This would be a boring site without input from those two.
