Minutes, EHC Meeting on 5/17/03:
(Recorded by Club Secretary, Robert D. White)

Members in attendance:  Robert F. White, Bob DeCecco, Joe Marschak, Robert D. White, Sam Stafford, Paul Nyberg, Ruby Church, Wes Kuchcinsk, Andy Sharie, Gordon Gaither, Rich Kuchcinski, RC Rhineberger, Rod Chilcott, Ed Kuchcinski, Steve Kuchcinski, Sally Siegel

 Openining and officer reports:

The meeting was called to order at 3:09 PM by the Club President.  The Secretary read the minutes from the previous meeting on 1/25/03.  Sally Siegel motioned to accept the minutes as read—motion carried.  The Treasurer read the financial report for the preceding months.  Sam Stafford motioned to accept the financial report as read—motion carried.  The Treasurer further reported on the property tax assessment appeal for the Shunpike property—hearing is to be at 2 PM on June 19th.  Both the President and the Vice-President will attend and advocate for the club.  The Tournament Director was absent, so the President gave an update on the progress of the Eastern National tournament planning.  The club is still short by $2700.00 to meet the break even point for the eastern national Tournament.  Ticket sales are slower than expected—we need to find a sponsor to make up the difference.

There were no new member applications to consider, so no motion was made to open the charter to new members.

 Old Business

The topic of officer term limits was brought up and discussed but again tabled till a more appropriate time.

 New Business:

There was a motion by Sally Siegel to create an Assistant Treasurer position.  The Assistant Treasurer would be a new officer position, which would require an amendment to the club’s constitution and by laws.  The motion was seconded and will be voted on at the next meeting.  If it passes, then this must be included in the nominations to follow.

There was a request by Mike Wheeler to have input into Club decision making without having to attend the club meetings.  The issue was discussed and it was determined that we will add a comments section to the newsletter whereby any member can write down their opinions and then put them in any of the officers mail slots in the indoor courts.  It was the general consensus of the members present that if a member has an opinion on an issue then they should come to the club meetings to discuss it.  If that’s not possible then they should detail it in writing and give it to a club officer to speak on their behalf.

Sally Siegel motioned to adjourn at 4:22 PM-motion carried.
