(3/14/03, 6 PM)

Attendees:   Steve Kuchcinski, Bob DeCecco, Robert D. White, Robert F. White, Ruby Church, Sally Siegel, Rod Chilcott, Harvey Hayes                        Tardy:  Chuck Burkett (6:15 PM)
Absent:  Joe Marschak, Sam Stafford

Meeting called to order at approximately 6:10 PM

Points discussed during meeting:

1)     Robert F. White, Club President , called for a discussion of the situation involving Rick Carter and Willie Webster who felt they did not owe the club for entry fees because they had canceled as soon as they knew their pitching times conflicted with their transportation situation.  He committee voted 9 – 0 to allow a one time grace on this for them.

2)     Tournament Fund Raising:  The committee determined that the club needs to raise $4,000 between program ad sales and ticket sales to cover the guaranteed prize fund.  Once the sales exceed $4,000, the additional funds generated from ticket sales will be added to the prize fund for all classes beneath the Championship Classes.  Excess funds from ticket sales will be added to the prize fund up until one week prior to the tournament when the final cash awards per class are determined.  Direction of funds from tickets sold after that point will be determined by the committee.

3)     Tie breaker rules that were previously proposed, were OK’d by committee

4)     Shoe limit issue:  Chuck Burkett had concerns about having shoe limit games.  The committee discussed the issue and decided to have Chuck research and determine the best % cut-off (probably lower than the originally proposed 30%) to allow for competitive games. Also, the committee voted to eliminate the shoe limit in favor of Chuck’s proposal to shorten games to 30 points rather than using the originally proposed 60 shoe limit.

5)     The committee voted in favor of having all classes with less than 6 entries (in the Eastern nationals only) playing multiple round robins (most likely a double round) so that all players are scheduled to play a minimum of 5 or more games.

6)     Eastern National Tournament Awards:  Must have first and second place plaques and cash prizes that at least meet the minimum published amounts.  Vote was unanimous on this issue.

7)     Eastern National Ticket Sales:  Seller of grand prize winning ticket gets $50.  Seller of 2nd prize winning ticket gets $30.  Seller of 3rd prize winning ticket gets $20.  Seller of the most tickets gets $50.

Next meeting set for April 19, 2003 at 9 AM

Meeting adjourned at approximately 7:55 PM.
